What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Intern position at Barnes Group?
The IT Intern is responsible for assisting and the completion of a variety of projects within our IT department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Setup, re-image/reload & maintain PCs, Windows networks, file servers, network cabling, & other related equipment, devices & systems.
- Install hardware & peripheral components such as printers, monitors, & keyboards.
- Collaborate with the IT Manager to complete work orders (tickets) in a timely & efficient manner.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of computer operating procedures & operating standards.
- Assists with IT-related projects & performs other assignments as requested.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to drive efficient & effective processes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with all departments to help support the strategies & priorities of the organization.
- Understand & ensure customer specific requirements are met & in line with company commitments.
- Acts in accordance to Barnes Group Code of Ethics and Values
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Enrollment in Information Technology, Computer Science or related degree program.
- Proven work experience (not necessarily technical work experience) preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of PCs, laptops, networks, printers, & peripheral hardware devices.
- Excellent computer proficiency utilizing Windows 7 & 10 and Microsoft Office 2010, 2013 & 365.
- Ability to learn & support new systems & applications.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills; ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical personnel.
- Must be capable of performing duties with limited supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to permit effective interaction with all levels of the organization.
- Self-directed & motivated individual with excellent organizational skills & accepts responsibility.
