We are headquartered outside of Toronto, Canada in Cambridge, ON, with manufacturing facilities in Charlotte, NC and Millbury, MA. Our growth strategies are based on developing technologically advanced fiber reinforcement, prepreg and other material solutions for our customers in the aerospace, military/defense, energy, industrial and protective markets.
SUMMARY
As part of the Supply Chain team, the Production Scheduler is responsible for daily production scheduling for our Millbury, MA location. The position involves frequent interaction with procurement, customer service, product development, and production departments to interpret and ensure customer requirements are met. Working both independently and as part of a team, the successful candidate will be detail-oriented, demonstrate results, driven, hands-on attitude along with the ability to think on their feet and work well under pressure.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
- Ongoing interaction with production, sales, customer service, R&D, and Engineering teams to determine and satisfy customer requirements and priorities.
- Reviews forecasts, incorporating them into the production planning and scheduling process. Creates and maintains a daily master production schedule which balances the workload to maximize operation efficiency, output, and customer due dates.
- Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data to determine manufacturing processes, equipment, tools and resource requirements.
- Provides planning solutions for any materials shortages, equipment downtime, or other constraints. Develops action plans as required to ensure the production is successful.
- Advise management of the status of work in progress, material availability.
- Reviews and runs MRP system daily, converting planned orders into process orders and purchase requisitions.
- Helps set minimum and maximum inventories for raw materials, WIP and finished materials.
- Evaluate internal manufacturing constraints and develop proposals and plans to maintain level, efficient production.
- Investigate production variations through data collection to develop root cause analysis and recovery plans.
- Prepares production reports.
- Works with IT to improve the efficient use of ERP.
- Contribute to other committees or initiatives as needed.
- Involvement in key continuous improvement projects such as established by the company.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 5 – 10 years of related experience in manufacturing with at least 5 years in Production Planning functions.
- Excellent computer literacy and previous experience with automated scheduling systems (ERP / MRP).
- Relevant degree/diploma in a related field (Materials Management, Business, or Engineering).
- Experience and familiarization with manufacturing processes and planning tools.
- APICS certification (or actively pursuing) certification would be beneficial (but not required).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity and/or willingness to learn the customs documentation/process is essential.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Strong understanding and implementation experience with Lean concepts and tools.
WORKING CONDITIONS
M-F, 8am-5pm. Primarily office related work with interaction on the plant floor. Occasional flexibility to work “off-hours” and to travel to other plant locations may be required.
