The Quality Assurance Supervisor will be the main contact for all customer inquiries, requests and complaints. The Supervisor will perform activities in accordance to company and customer quality management systems and ensure the quality of the products by enforcing FSSC 22000(food safety), HACCP, GMP (good manufacturing practices), quality policy, safety and sanitation regulations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Promote a safe working environment, and conduct self in a safe manner
- Manage the workflow, delegate tasks, monitor and assess the work performance, provide support and guidance to direct reports and Quality office staff
- Develop, implement, and coordinate food safety programs (including but not limited to HACCP, Food
- Safety Plan, Integrated Pest Management, CAPA, Hygienic Design) for the production facility
- Certified Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control
- Points (HACCP)
- Provide guidance for and validate food safety and quality programs
- Support the implementation of corrective actions associated with identified gaps (both internal and
- external)
- Maintain and update policies and procedures; develop and conduct required and appropriate training
- Perform trending analysis; identify non-conformances and opportunities across Food Safety
- Management System (FSMS) programs
- Support and co-lead third party and internal audits and their preparation and follow up (FSSC
- 22000, Customer, Regulatory, Sustainability)
- Perform special projects as assigned (committees, continuous improvement, project lead, etc.)
- Collect, review, prioritize, and complete customer quality and food safety inquiries
- Collect and review production activities and records in accordance with company and customer quality management systems.
- Lead investigations, provide responses to, file and maintain records of, track, analyze, and trend customer complaints
- Collect and verify standards and standard updates through SAP and production records
- In the absence of the QA manager, represent FSMS and Processes
- Perform all other duties as requested/required
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and collaborate with plant personnel
- Works within all regulatory requirements.
- Drive and shape the quality culture within the site, in alignment with BC initiatives and continuous improvement.
About you:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred - Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or Chemistry – or equivalent Experience
- At least 5 years of experience as QA/QC including experience in the food industry
- Knowledge and experience with HACCP, GMPs, FSMA, Food Defense, FSSC 22000 (or equivalent GFSI standard)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- A team player with strong leadership abilities
- Understanding of government regulations in relation to food processing
- Strong personal computer skills i.e. SAP, Google Workspace, Word, Excel, Power PointAbility to drive projects to completion
