Job Summary: The Painter supports the site operations by effectively and efficiently cleaning, prepping and painting fabricated or purchased parts according to specification and quality requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Clean parts for painting using solvents, cleaners / detergents.
Prepare parts for painting according to instructions or prints:
Sand parts when required
Mask parts when required
Prime parts according to specifications
Mix, top coat / paint primed parts according to instructions, prints or specifications to a visual pleasing esthetic look.
Follow guidelines for disposal of hazardous waste maintaining daily Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) log, where applicable.
Work from routings, prints, work list and/or verbal instructions.
Ensure daily maintenance of booth to include filters, spray gun and other equipment needed for projects.
Manages, orders and stocks supplies as needed.
Clean, maintain and organize work area and all equipment.
Identify improvements in efficiency and resource utilization with the ability to accomplish results.
Follow and abide by safety rules and regulations, including using PPE as required, and safe operation of tools and equipment, always.
Adhere to company policies/procedures, including attendance expectations.
Must communicate well with others and develop constructive working relationships.
Communicate using written, verbal, and interaction skills necessary to work both independently and cooperatively.
Crosstrain on various areas of the business as assigned.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
High school degree or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 – 3 years of spray-painting experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment or similar field.
Knowledge of MSDS with regard to industrial paints, thinners, and their applications.
Knowledge of hazardous waste storage and disposing (HAZMAT).
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret prints.
Ability to work both independently and cooperatively.
Respiratory protection required: ability to pass respiratory fit test.
