As a Basis Partners Senior Drainage Engineer, you play an important role in our community’s quality of life and safety by working on transportation drainage projects to provide hydrologic and hydraulic design and modeling, grading and erosion control design, and water quality design.
You will be part of a design team responsible for applying your broad and advanced knowledge of principles, practices and applied technical expertise in drainage design, detailed hydrologic and hydraulic analysis (using various models and methods), and preparation of design plans, reports, and technical documents.
You will be taking the lead for planning, leading, developing and coordinating multiple projects of moderate to major size, complexity, and scope.
You will be responsible for technical performance on multiple projects having decision making authority requiring little to no technical supervision. Receiving supervision and guidance relating to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, unusual conditions, and policy matters while enjoying the responsibility for leading, mentoring, coaching, and advising other less experienced team members.
You will help grow this segment of our business practices by participating in business development opportunities (pursuing future opportunities; and developing new and maintaining current client relationships).
Primary Responsibilities:
Leading, managing, and completing drainage engineering of transportation projects.
Creating project data and deliverables such as drainage reports, stormwater management plans, 1D and 2D flow analysis, riverine alignments and profiles, scour analysis, development of sheets, specification packages and estimates.
Preparing engineering calculations, technical documents, and reports.
Verifying compliance with relevant specifications and project documents through construction.
Leading and working as part of a team, taking responsibility for delivery of drainage tasks.
Taking professional responsibility for all designs and work prepared under your supervision.
Providing mentorship to other team members.
Assisting or leading the preparation of project proposals and project contracts.
Other Responsibilities:
Actively communicating project status and potential issues with construction manager or engineer.
Communicating and collaborating with other departments and offices to coordinate work.
Seeking training opportunities for development of skills and providing training to team members.
Actively observing and acting in an appropriate manner related to safety.
Reviewing project drawings, specifications, and manuals. Understanding the inspection requirements for each construction activity and coordinates accordingly.
If you are the ideal candidate, you will have the following experience:
Preferred: 8-10 years’ experience and expert level technical skills in performing drainage design, calculations, and plan production.
Minimum: 6 years’ experience and highly advanced technical skills in performing drainage design, calculations, and plan production.
Experience with local agency and DOT regulations regarding drainage design in closed pipe and open channel systems.
Experience using Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, HEC-RAS, GeoHEC-RAS, HY-8, SRH-2D, and other software used in analysis and plan production.
Education:
Required: B.S. Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology.
License:
Required: PE License with a civil focus or the ability to obtain a PE license in Colorado.

Pay: $90,000 - $135,000 per year. The pay range listed for this position is an estimated pay range. Factors that may be used to determine actual salary include relevant education (or applicable experience), training, competencies relevant to the role, and internal equity.
