General:
This position is responsible for removing the entrapped air and smoothing out the glass and resin mixture to ensure a quality laminated production part.
Tools and Equipment:
Various sizes of plastic and brush rollers, brushes, scissors, 10-pound weights, various types of fiberglass matting, protective equipment such as rubber gloves, boots, coverall suits, aprons and safety glasses, razor knife.
Duties:
1. Push molds in the area as required. Minimum of three people per mold, two pushing one guiding in the front.
2. Use a hand held roller in a bock and forth motion over the wet glass and resin mixture to release entrapped air from mold surfaces.
3. Cut sheets of fiberglass mat to the proper size to place on molds during the hand lay-up process. After the glass starts to cure the excess must be trimmed from the mold flange with a razor knife.
4. Assist in placing plywood, balsa wood, bal-tec mat and fiberglass strips on the molds.
5. Place 10-pound weights on floors of the deck bulk material. Assist in placing 30-pound transom clamps on the hull at specified time during the production process.
6. Have a strong understanding of all models and materials used for production of composite fiberglass boats.
7. Responsible for inspecting and maintaining high quality standards.
8. Keep work area safe, clean and hazard free.
