Responsibilities
The Nurse Educator will work Full-time from 8:00AM- 5:00PM, Monday to Friday, and will provide clinical support and education to nursing staff.
- As a Nurse Educator, you will promote quality patient care and outcome.
- Promotes and evaluates evidence-based clinical standards of patient care and nursing practice.
- The Nurse Educator will maintain current knowledge of research findings and incorporates findings into clinical practice and standards of care.
- As a Nurse Educator, you will collaborate with nursing leaders and Nurse Educators to establish and implement staff development activities.
- The Nurse Educator will assist new staff in the assessment of learning needs and establishes individualized plans to meet these learning needs.
- Monitors progress of newly hired nursing staff during the orientation process, collaborating with the Nurse Manager to determine staff readiness for completion of orientation phase.
- As a Nurse Educator, you will provide direct nursing care to patients, role modelling excellent service, clinical competence, effective collaboration, and teamwork.
- Maintains and improves clinical skills and proficiency through regular direct clinical practice.
- Demonstrates clinical proficiency and self-directed learning to gain competence in new clinical skills and practices.
- Functions as a change agent and clinical unit-based leader.
- Responds to changes in nursing practice, including new equipment, supplies, medications, and systems, and develops educational programs to support those changes.
Qualifications
Bassett Healthcare Network follows the New York State and New York State Department of Health COVID-19 vaccine mandates for healthcare workers. This mandate requires COVID-19 vaccinations for personnel working for or on behalf of our hospitals and nursing homes. The New York State mandate allows for medical exemptions and religious accommodations, when appropriate. Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or other related science field required.
- Graduation from a Master’s degree program in Professional Nursing, with a concentration in a clinical specialty is desired.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant clinical experience is required.
- Previous educational, clinical specialty or leadership experience is desirable.
Licensure/Certificates:
- Current NYS licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse is required.
- Current BLS ACLS (desired for applicable units)
- Certification in relevant clinical fields is desired.
Skills:
- Knowledge and application of staff development and adult learning principles.
- Expert interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively regarding sensitive or complex issues.
- Ability to define and solve problems and deal with complex variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
- Demonstrates proficiency in required nursing skills relevant to area of practice.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and position patients required.
- Category I risk exposure as defined by OSHA.
- Busy inpatient setting providing care 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
- On feet much of day with considerable lifting.
- Moving of heavy, awkward equipment.
- Must be able identify and differentiate colors.
