- Design, analyze, test, manufacture, maintain mechanical components and systems, and test equipment.
- Performs advanced engineering analysis on a variety of mechanical components.
- Conducts quality control review, data reporting, and writes/reviews technical documents.
- Applies principles of engineering, physics, and materials science as well as an understanding of core areas including mechanics, kinematics, dynamics, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis, chemistry, and electricity along with tools like computer‐aided design and product lifecycle management to design and analyze test facilities, industrial equipment, and machinery; heating and cooling systems; transport systems; robotics; and others.
- Research, plans, designs, and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, for test purposes.
- Performs complex assignments by compiling and evaluating design and test data, preparing technical specifications, analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specifications.
- Analyzes and interprets data collected.
- Prepares technical reports and makes presentations to client, both formal and informal.
- Conducts and/or leads small technical projects or phases of technical projects.
- May provide technical direction to and coordinate the efforts of engineers and technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects within time and budget constraints.
- Builds relationships with internal and external clients and presents research results.
- Communicates with client regarding the schedule and quality of deliverables.
- Supports business development efforts led by others and secures follow-on work.
- Oversees, mentors and trains lower-level staff.
- Prepares engineering drawings and design diagrams.
- Troubleshoots and prepares equipment for test.
- Creates test procedures, operating instructions, maintenance instructions.
- Completes assigned project work within schedule and budget constraints.
- Develops test procedures, collects data and conducts integrated testing.
- Follows safety, security, quality, configuration management and operating policies and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field with 5 years of experience or master’s degree in related field with 2 years of experience or PhD; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.
- Experience that demonstrates solving complex technical problems associated with engineering and scientific activities.
- Ability to follow complex written or oral instructions accurately and efficiently.
- Candidates should be highly motivated self-starters with a strong desire to learn.
- The ability to regularly lift up to 50lbs, and to stage heavy equipment and test articles.
- Eligibility and willingness to obtain a Secret Clearance and DHS Suitability.
- Must be US Citizen
- Experience in one or more of the following technologies: License Plate Reader (LPR), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems, digital signage, kiosks, biometrics, mobile technologies, artificial intelligence, IoT, Wireless communications, imaging systems, camera analytics, non-intrusive inspection equipment.
