The Executive Director, Trade Relations oversees the management of Trade Relations across all trade channels including wholesalers, specialty distributors, and retail pharmacies. This role will also manage aspects of distribution including Distribution Service Agreements (DSAs). The Executive Director will lead a Team. This position will report to the Senior Vice President/General Manager of U.S. Ophthalmology.

Responsibilities

Develop and continually evaluate the Trade Distribution model. Identify any necessary changes or adjustments to the model based upon new products, risk mitigation, and/or regulatory and legislative changes.

Leverage available data to identify trends and opportunities to improve distribution efficiencies, address risks, and manage budget.

Develop DSA contracting strategy and execution.

Manage Senior Level relationships with key accounts.

Oversee and execute all Trade notifications.

Partner with Supply Chain to manage supply issues and maintain appropriate inventory.

Serve as a subject matter expert as a member of New Product Launch teams, and Acquisitions/Divestitures for trade related issues.

Oversee Trade policies and procedures, such as: orders, damages/shortages and order monitoring/inventory management.

Understand data analytics utilizing 852 and 867 enriched channel data.

Demonstrate an ability to implement creative solutions to complex problems.

Work seamlessly with a variety of internal stakeholders across the Business Units and within the Account Management and Market Access Team.

Responsible for overseeing that all EDI, Faxed, and Phone orders are processed in a timely and efficient manner.

Communicates proactively with team members, internal and external partners regarding orders and product availability.

Provides information to Finance and other internal partners as needed.

Onboarding and off boarding of staff.

Assess training and reference documents to reflect current processes on an ongoing basis.

Oversees team meetings.

Works closely with Supply Chain daily to ensure product is available to fill the days orders.

Ensures the timely closing on a daily and monthly basis of all orders (trade and samples) by meeting the timeline set by Finance Dept.

Lead Channel Strategy

Plan for product reach in key channels (e.g., hospital, pharmacy, Kaiser, VA/DoD, etc.)

Lead drug listing process (e.g., Redbook, First Data Bank, etc.)

Develop Contracting Strategies and Agreements

Determine essential services needed from trading partners, serving as the basis for trade contracts

Lead a cross-functional team to develop wholesaler and pharmacy contracts

Define the fair market value for services delivered

Draft/deliver/negotiate contracts with trade partners on behalf of the company

Build relationships with key trade customers

Qualifications

Bachelors degree. Masters preferred.

8 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.

5 years of experience within Channel, Trade & Distribution; biotech/pharma experience preferred.

Experience negotiating Distribution Service Agreements.

Experience managing a distribution network (Wholesaler and Specialty Pharmacy).

Strong team player that has customer service approach and is solution oriented.

Attention to detail and ability to work individually, as well as within a multi-disciplinary team.

Strong oral and written presentation skills and executive presence.
