GIS Technician
Position Description
Baxter & Woodmans Spatial Technology Group has a rewarding opportunity for a GIS Technician in our Crystal Lake, Chicago, Mokena, Milwaukee, West Palm Beach, and Houston office. Position Duties
- Report to the Spatial Technology Group Manager for work responsibilities, scheduling, and tasks
- Perform office based mapping tasks including but not limited to hardcopy, digital and web based products.
- Create and manage ArcGIS Online maps and apps
- Manage geodata standards, clean up, maintenance
- Provide onsite work for municipal clients and field based projects as needed
- Provide field based services including but not limited to GPS data collection of new assets / as builts, condition assessments of utilities, pavement, signage, ADA, As-builts etc.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in GIS, Geography, Remote Sensing or related field required
- -75% workload will be office based GIS and Spatial Technology related tasks
- -25% workload will be field based performing GPS services, data collection, inspections, condition assessments in a wide-variety of project types and environments.
- 1 years of related experience in the use of Esri GIS software a plus
- 1 years of field data collection a plus
- Working knowledge of Esri products
- Working knowledge of map design and end user focused layout
- Working knowledge of municipal engineering services a plus
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
- Valid Drivers License
- Ability to travel throughout Chicagoland area (own transportation)
