Junior Estimator

Bay Area Motorized Shades (BAMS) is currently seeking a Junior/Intern Estimator to join our
Company located in Concord, CA.

The Estimator is responsible for developing accurate and timely proposals and estimates for projects to ensure that BAMS is a responsive bidder. Develops estimates and prepares bid packages on a weekly basis. Submits bids and is Company point contact with respect to bid inquiries, resolution response, and general communications.

This job is a fantastic opportunity for a part time summer Intern, interested or has a study focus in
Construction Management. The hours are flexible and can be remote work as well. It would be a wonderful job to provide ongoing supplemental income to someone studying in the field – you are able to earn an income, but also learn and gain real life job experience in the field of your Career choice, without having to go to a jobsite!

Responsibilities:

• Reviews project plans, requirements, and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project and develops scope of work, labor, and equipment costs.
• Reviews and understands all bid documents and material requirements to assess constructability and product material requirements.
• Initiates solicitations and communicates with responsible parties, subs, plan developers to gain detailed knowledge of the portion of work for which the Estimator is responsible.
• Prepares bid packages.
• Initiates and participates in job site meetings or presentations.
• Comprehends contract requirements for multi-layer compliance regulations.

Qualifications:

• Able to work independently, but also collaborative: train Team on bid process
• Takes accountability for delivering on commitments.
• Competent and skilled in working in software and platforms, including Bluebeam and Construction Journal Platform.
• Accurately estimates time required to complete actions and activities.
• Accurately interprets written information associated with projects.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Salary Range: Hourly rate, plus commission on bids secured.

Pay: $22.46 - $25.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 4 hour shift
• Monday to Friday

Supplemental pay types:

• Commission pay
