Position Overview
BayCare Medical Group is a physician-led medical group seeking an experienced Pediatric ICU Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida. This position provides 24/7 coverage, with 12 hour day and night shift coverage in a busy PICU, including nights weekends, and holidays. Expectation to work 12 shifts per month. The APP will work closely with the physician to develop and carry out plan of care, order entry and daily care notes. Responsible for ordering/interpreting labs and diagnostic tests. THe provider will work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Qualifications
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in a medical-surgical specialty area extends the services of physicians by providing assessment and management of critical patients under the age of 21 years old. Provide direct care and assume responsibility for the clinical management of pediatric critical care patients who come to the ICU from various settings:
- Ambulatory areas, operating room, emergency department, and in-patient settings.
- Obtain patient histories.
- Perform physical examinations.
- Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans.
- Direct participation in case management and providing continuing care.
- Collaborate, refer, and consult with department attending physicians, specialists and other members of the healthcare team to deliver effective, efficient, safe and high-quality care.
- This position operates under physician directed protocols for all Advanced Care Practitioner duties.
Position requires: Florida licensure and certification/PA-C or NP_C including Acute Care Certification and previous pediatric and acute care experience required.
