Summary:
- The Biomedical Engineering Technician I (BMET 1) is an entry level Clinical Engineering Services (CES) position that is responsible for providing direct service and support to the users for a wide variety of medical devices and peripherals within the BayCare system.
- This position works extensively with the incident management system and is responsible for fulfilling end user requests and resolving issues on medical devices in accordance with established SLAs and CES procedural standards.
- Typical responsibilities involve Preventive Maintenance (PMs), calibration/maintenance of medical devices, and responding to break/fix service requests.
- Ensures that all the components necessary to support the medical device are in place and functional, such as power/surge protections, computer equipment, cabling, etc.
- Responsible for moving and configuring setup of relocated medical devices.
- Deploys or works with Information Services to refresh computers, transfer data, and move software from old system to new.
- Decommissioning and proper disposal of End of Life (EOL) medical devices.
- Provides local assistance to other areas during down times to help troubleshoot issues.
- Supports various CES Field Service teams and IS Resolver groups (ex. FS Project Team, IS Field Services, and other IS Resolver groups not located locally).
- Provides assistance with Vendors to install Vendor Hardware and Software.
- The BMET 1 is required to participate in CES related projects as directed and to assist with technology refresh, inventory management, system imaging/staging, and medical device distribution.
- The BMET 1 also has a working knowledge of regulations, rules, and policies pertaining to medical equipment and ensures these standards are followed by outside vendors as needed.
