GENERAL SUMMARY:
Summary:
Applies entry level knowledge and expertise through the inspection, testing, troubleshooting, calibration and repair of medical equipment. Position requires a beginning foundation in knowledge of troubleshooting, reading technical manuals and understanding schematics. Assembles, maintains, and repairs various medical equipment. Tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements. Assists medical staff in operation of equipment. Minimal familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under direct supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Service Requests - Consistently responds to requests for service within 30 minutes of notification. Ensures daily status is given to end user and documented on work orders for work in progress. Ensures updated status is given to end user and documented on work orders for work sent to outside service. Verifies via documentation that all vendor related service is complete and accurately addresses the end user's problems when work is completed.
2. Corrective Maintenance of Equipment- Documents all corrective actions, parts used and tests performed are submitted in reports, paperwork and the computer maintenance software by the end of the business day. Documents updates to departments and end users with the status of work performed within two hours. Shop average time to complete corrective work requests must be kept within 7days each month. Individual average time to complete corrective work requests must be kept within 10 days each month.
3. Preventive Maintenance of Equipment - Documents all pm actions, parts used and tests performed are submitted in reports, paperwork, and the computer maintenance software by the end of the business day. All testing data is entered into work order before work order is closed. All tests required as established in procedures will be performed for each item and documented into work order. PM completion rates must be within current established guidelines.
4. Problem Resolution - All calls to the department will be responded to in less than thirty minutes. If problem cannot be identified within 2 hours the problem is to be discussed with Supervisor as to what course of action needs to take place. Resolves equipment issues within agreed upon times with owner department. Brings issues to Supervisor when obstacles are identified. Assists peers with resolving issues. Must not overlook safety issues when identified.
5. Self Development - Reviews all departmental policies at least annually. Reads monthly periodicals pertaining to medical equipment. Completes mandatory training on an annual basis within established guidelines. Participates positively in the competency testing conducted. Seeks additional training to expand knowledge of equipment.
6. Equipment Inventory - Notifies Supervisor of acceptance/rejection of the device being tested within thirty minutes of results. Tags equipment appropriately to signify device acceptance/rejection upon completion of testing. Documents all actions and identifying information (make, model, serial number, and manufacturer) in work orders and computer system by the end of the business day. Performs new equipment inspections within 3 business days of receipt and notifies owning department of any delays within the same 3 day timeframe.
7. All other duties as assigned, within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL:

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Six months of work experience in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic equipment (if Associate Degree in Electronic, Computer Science or Biomedical Engineering is held, no experience required) . Preferred: One year of work experience in medical equipment repair or two years of work experience in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic equipment.
