Summary:
The Manager of NGS Library oversees the day-to-day operations of the clinical laboratory, ensuring
efficient workflow and adherence to regulatory standards, while supervising laboratory personnel.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Education:
• Required: Bachelor’s degree in a discipline relevant to clinical laboratory work.
• Required Experience: Six years of relevant experience.
OR
• Master’s degree: Four years of relevant experience.
OR
• PhD: Two years of relevant experience.
• Certification/Licenses/Registration:
• Required: MB(ASCP) or CG(ASCP).
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop schedules to ensure optimal laboratory coverage and timely results reporting.
• Recruit, train, and onboard new laboratory personnel.
• Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory operations.
• Manage laboratory inventory, ordering supplies as needed.
• Review instrument maintenance logs and QC records, taking corrective actions as required.
• Conduct and oversee testing procedures, troubleshooting assay performance when necessary.
• Evaluate, suggest, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Compile and analyze data, preparing and presenting laboratory metrics and progress reports.
• Provide regular performance feedback and mentorship and conduct annual performance reviews.
• Ensure staff training and competency aligns with laboratory regulations.
• Maintain laboratory compliance according to CAP, NY, CLIA regulations, and 5S standards.
• Perform test cost analysis and forecasting for full-time equivalent (FTE) needs.
• Undertake other job-related duties as assigned.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to sit, talk, and hear.
• Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
