BAART is looking for hard-working and conscientious Employment Consultant (EC).  The Employment Consultant (EC) is responsible for job search activities, employer outreach, and employment services for job seekers who are in recovery from Substance Use Disorders. The EC collaborates and works with local partners including VocRehab, the Vermont Department of Labor, and area businesses to make the State of Vermont a model in recruitment, hiring, and retention of people in Recovery.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform direct outreach to employers to understand local labor market needs, job openings, and employer hiring practices.
  • Understand the needs of area employers and job seekers for effective job matching.
  • Effectively utilize job search and placement tools and resources to assist job seekers with their employment goals (progressive employment, community service placements, group activities, etc.).
  • Actively participate in local Creative Workforce Solutions (CWS) team meetings and utilize the CWS Salesforce CRM system to track all employer engagement activities.
  • Coordinate business outreach with the CWS Business Account Manager and CWS team members.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with team members, partners, job seekers and area employers.
  • Maintain a professional appearance upon a representative visits with partners, businesses, and as a model to job seekers.
  • Maintain accessibility and effective communication with partners, job seekers and employers.
  • Maintain accountability to local office team and job seekers related to work activities, schedules and work assignments.
  • Assist in development of job seekers’ résumés, interviewing, and job seeking skills.
  • Coordinate job placement supports (job coaches, interpreters, readers, etc.) as needed.
  • Refer job seekers to services (Recovery Centers, support groups, etc.) as appropriate.
  • Document job seekers’ work and work-related activities.
  • Accountable for EC performance measures and outcomes, and providing timely grant monitoring reports to ADAP grant manager.
  • Attend business functions and meetings sponsored by local business organizations.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and interact with others.
  • Must be present during working hours at the office for in person meetings and access to a computer without violating company policy.
  • Other duties, as assigned

 
Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in sales, outreach, marketing, business engagement, or other related experience.  Work experience may be substituted by an Associate’s Degree or successful completed college course work on a six-months for a semester basis.
  • Successful completion of SWK-2711 ST: Employment Services for Individuals with Disabilities, to be started within 6 months of hire, is required for this posit This is an online, asynchronous college-level course offered by the Community College of Vermont; upon successful completion the employee will be awarded three (3) college credits and an ACRE (Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators) Certificate of Achievement. The employee is permitted and encouraged to complete coursework during regular business hours.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills are required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including, Word, Excel and MS Project. Experience working with construction software such as Timberline or a similar application is essential.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including trust building and active listening skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of job seekers and employers.
  • Ability to effectively manage interpersonal conflict and challenging situations.
  • Understanding of personnel policies (workplace harassment, conflict of interest, etc.)
  • Understanding of, and ability to maintain, confidentiality (working knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 ideal)
  • Working knowledge of The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Clear, direct and honest communication style; ability to exercise discretion and tac
  • Flexibility/openness to change and to considerable variations in work environments
  • Ability to take initiative, work autonomously, and self-direct as appropriate
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and possess strong analytical and organizational skills in managing multiple projects in different consecutive stages.
  • Must be able to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment in which attention to detail and audit-trail documentation must be maintained in the face of multiple competing demands for your time. Developing a positive rapport with clients, vendors, subcontractors and employees and maintaining business partnerships is critically important.
  • Professional registration (PE, RA, PMP, CCM, PSP preferred but not required)
  • Compliance with accepted professional standards and practices
  • Initiative to take charge of unforeseen situations, solve problems and adjust to schedule changes
  • Satisfactory references from employers and/or professional peers
  • Satisfactory criminal background check
