BASIC FUNCTION

Baystar is a 50/50 Joint Venture between TotalEnergies & Borealis, and is engaged in the manufacturing of polyethylene. This role is responsible for providing end user assistance related to the installation, operation, and maintenance of various computer software application programs throughout the organization, both at our manufacturing site(s) and our corporate office. Serving as primary Baystar contact person who would receive and handle support requests and resolve support-related issues, providing hands-on technical maintenance or walk users through a troubleshooting and resolution process. Lead information systems (IS) projects related to application selection, deployment or replacement. Act as the IT contact for application solutions, coordinating with business, application vendors, service providers and other IT teams

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Application Support:
    • Support end users and applications and advise on application functionality and business processes. Recommend expanded or improved use of applications. Understand the implications applications have on other domains.
    • Ensure cost-effective, secure, and reliable operations of applications. Review incidents, changes, and evolutions to check for re-occurrence and appropriate progress. Liaise with application vendors to ensure timely and quality support.
    • Ensure integrity and functionality of information exchanges between applications (i.e. HR information feeds or single sign on updates, accounting files between employee expense reimbursement system and to HRIS (UKG) and/or ERP (SAP)).
    • Manage technical obsolescence in applications. Address cybersecurity concerns associated with existing and new applications.
    • Write documentation for applications (IT docs and end user documentation as needed)
    • Develop reporting and interfaces as needed for new applications based on user needs. Work independently and/or with vendors to develop automated interfaces between applications as feasible.
    • Develop and maintain relations with 3rd party support vendors.
    • Prepare maintenance plans and upgrade schedules for the organization’s key non-ERP applications
    • Ensure cost-effective, secure, and reliable operations of applications. Review incidents, changes, and evolutions to check for re-occurrence and appropriate progress. Manage escalation as needed.
    • Deliver regular and customized training to end user teams within the business on assigned applications. Conduct lunch and learns as needed to improve full utilization of application functionality
    • Provide development support as feasible to end users to develop additional application functionality
    • Ensure business continuity plans are in place for all non-ERP applications
    • Types of applications: Client/Server, Intranet, Internet/Cloud, Mobile
  • Project Management/Lead IS Projects:
    • For new applications or modifications to existing applications, serve as internal project manager to guide user community in requirements gathering, application/package selection, design, planning, testing, documentation, training, communication with stakeholders.
    • Identify and coordinate change management activities required for any transitions – including but not limited to testing, training and messaging
    • Lead RFP process for new application selection
    • Liaise with current IT Service Provider on all things impacting or interacting with cybersecurity, overall architecture or ERP.
  • Maintain knowledge on all technologies, architecture tools which provide application-based solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT related field
  • Minimum 10 years of related professional experience in progressively more responsible positions
  • Strong analytical, complex problem-solving and decision-making and organizational skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and interest in exploring new ways to work, propose methods for improvement to processes, products or services, and reach across domains
  • General understanding of email, telecom, and remote connectivity

  • Experience in Chemical or Manufacturing sites
  • Experience in MS Azure, Sharepoint, SAP

PHYSICAL CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS

This position requires the incumbent to:

  • Follow safety requirements for the role
  • Wear required PPE (eye protection, noise protection, etc.) when inside plant environment, or where directed by signage
  • Lift up to 10 pounds
  • Walk safely in and around industrial areas
  • Work under deadline pressure within an environment that demands attention to safety and detail
  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Work at computer for significant periods of time throughout the day
