About the Role:

A re-positioning of where opportunity and strategy combine has resulted in a new home for an existing role in BBC Studios in our US centre in New York. It’s really exciting times and offers a truly blank page for the right person to own and develop.

, You will have overall responsibility for the Global Learning Plans for both Global Distribution and Brands and Marketing (the parts of our business that showcases the amazing content and products we produce, and builds ground-breaking media partnerships across the world) and you will be accountable for delivering world-class development aligned to our strategic priorities.

Working closely with these teams to build a deep understanding of the business areas will mean you will be able to effectively diagnose capability & skills gaps in our people and put in place strategy aligned development plans to achieve our ambitious growth.

This role involves building strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders to develop a clear understanding of business needs, and to partner effectively with the business to diagnose, collaborate challenge and support. From this you will establish the right development strategies and ensure they deliver real impact aligned to business and individual needs.

This role will critically work in close partnership with Heads of HR within both Global Distribution and Brands & Marketing to align the learning plan and development priorities in line with the overall people plan for each area. And because it is a genuinely global role you will be responsible for ensuring central Inclusion, Learning, Leadership and Talent priorities are tailored to the local audience in all locations, and be accountable to ensure they land effectively and with impact.

You will of course also need to build strong relationships with local learning leads internationally to ensure interventions are aligned to the overall learning plan and strategic direction.

Main Responsibilities

Responsibilities;

  • Through an inherent curiosity and thirst for knowledge you will build a deep understanding of the business areas – strategies, goals, challenges and diagnose capability gaps & root causes to shape development support that is impactful
  • You will bring your creativity to build learning/development annual plans for each area, aligned and in service of the people plan and overarching business strategy
  • Strong on data you will be adept at gathering and using insights effectively to understand opportunities to drive value to the business
  • You’ll be persistent and influential to ensure company-wide L&D initiatives land effectively locally and will put in place effective support strategies to ensure they embed in each area
  • With a collaborative style you will be responsible for directing the Learning Operations manager to measure effectiveness and business impact of all learning interventions for your area – you’ll want to know what works and what needs further refinement, adjustment or re-imagination.
  • Your influencing skills and disarming charm will help you build and manage strong relationships with Heads of HR and key senior stakeholders across the business and form part of the extended people partnering team and BBC Group Learning team.
  • You’ll be an expert at partnerships and collaboration as you work closely with:
    • the HR Transformation team to support development in line with capabilities and with Talent, Leadership and Inclusion to ensure learning plans align will ensure we have a consistent approach to designing and implementing strategies in Production and other associates areas
    • Our Learning Partner for Production and Corporate Functions to align approach and measurement and look for collaborative opportunities
    • With local international learning consultants/HRBP’s to ensure overall alignment to global plans
  • Organised and ordered, you will manage prioritisation of learning curriculum and associated budget and resource for core learning, and lead on the curation and design of content where appropriate, working closely with BBC Group and external partners to maximise efficiency and quality and align work as part of One BBC
  • And whilst we can do much ourselves, you will be used to co-ordinating internal/external facilitators based on requirements and priority and within budget
