Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment in industrial settings
- Fabricate and assemble parts using hand and power tools
- Perform field service work to troubleshoot and resolve issues with machinery
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential problems and perform preventive maintenance
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient operations
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing client concerns and resolving technical issues
· Performs mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, trouble shooting and repair of production machines.
· Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production.
· Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests, and makes adjustments.
· Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
· Performs regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
· Detects faulty operations, defective material, and reports those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
· Modifies and repairs production equipment to improve production capacities.
· Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.
· Operates welders, lathe, milling machine, and electronical monitoring equipment to make repair parts.
· Operates forklifts.
· Troubleshoots and repairs minor air compressor failures. Performs yearly preventive maintenance function on all pneumatic systems.
· Operates and maintains Ammonia Refrigeration systems. Performs minor repairs to piping, valving, and cold storage equipment. (Coils, doors, circulating fans)
· Troubleshoots process electrical problems. Maintains electrical systems. Performs weekly inspections of electrical systems. Replaces motor, control wiring, as required.
· Operates and repairs boilers. Performs yearly preventive maintenance inspections for boiler pressure inspections required by the State of Oregon. Completes boiler inspections sheet on a shift basis and monitors chemical usage and performs chemical analysis daily.
· Performs facility duties as required.
Performs other/additional duties and projects that may be periodically assigned.
Working Lead. Directly supervise Maintenance Mechanics and Maintenance Tech positions, providing technical support, scheduling direction and act as a support liaison between the Maintenance department and customers. Assist Engineering and Maintenance Manager with in-house and third-party work and provide consultation on all matters associated with the Maintenance Department. This position generally requires working Dayshift, Monday – Friday, but schedule may be temporarily adjusted to support the needs of the department.
Qualifications:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Experience as a millwright or in a related field
- Knowledge of low voltage and high voltage electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
5-10 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance; or equivalent combination of education and experience required, food processing experience highly preferred. LME (Licensed Mechanical Electrician) license, and RETA (Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association) certificate preferred, on the job experience may be substituted. Supervisory experience required.
Note: Military experience in a relevant field is highly valued.
