Job Description

I. QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, training, and/or ability required.   • Communicate in English at a level that allows for a successful performance of essential job functions. Applies basic reading and writing skills normally acquired through high school graduation, or equivalent. Applies working knowledge of reading and identifying values and types of components, cable diagrams, and wire types and sizes; normally acquired through special training and/or experience, or equivalent. Applies knowledge of assembly techniques, terminology and repair/rework skills acquired through specific training/experience in electronics/mechanical assembly.
  • Normally requires 2 years of directly related experience. Must have training on soldering techniques.


II. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Applies electrical theory and related knowledge to test and modify electrical assemblies.
  • Assembles and tests electrical equipment and components according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles.
  • Modifies electrical prototypes to correct functional deviations.
  • Diagnose cause of electrical or mechanical malfunctions or failure of operational equipment and perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards.
  • Troubleshoots faulty equipment.
  • Assembles experimental circuitry or complete prototype models according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronic systems and components.
  • Trains other Technicians and Operators, on acquired skills and expertise as required. Cross train other employees to insure redundant and multiple skills within the test area.



III. INDEPENDENCE OF ACTION
The amount of supervision/direction received, and the degree of job structure in terms of established policies and procedures.

  • Performs duties under minimal supervision following established procedures and guidelines.

IV. WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend and walk. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and to talk/hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 40 pounds.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Salary : $38,300 - $48,500
