Job purpose
This position on the Corporate FP&A team will be the go-to resource for all operating expense related analysis, reporting, budgeting, and projects. This individual will serve as the finance support for all the corporate functions. He/she will collaborate with the Corporate functional leaders to help them gain a better understanding of their monthly spending and pacing to the budget. In addition, this role will own the corporate functions’ annual budget process and will be responsible for preparing the monthly forecast for the Corporate P&L. He/she will also engage in special projects as requested by the Director, Corporate FP&A.
Duties and responsibilities
Corporate Function Finance Support
Partner with the Corporate functional leaders to explain their operating expense spending; on a monthly basis, present the functional leaders with variance analysis reports and supporting transactional details to ensure they have a solid understanding of how their function is performing versus the budget and prior periods
Collaborate with the Corporate functional leaders to develop a detailed annual budget plan (by labor and by operating expense account)
Ensure all acquisition costs incurred by the corporate functions are identified and reclassed to the correct cost center for reporting purposes
Reporting & Budgeting
Prepare all operating expense analysis for the month-end and quarter-end reporting cycles (i.e., monthly BoD package, quarterly earnings call prep, Executive Committee meetings, etc.); compile any supplementary ad hoc reports as requested by the CEO, CFO or functional leaders
Engage in the annual budgeting process to support the Divisional FP&A teams and ensure operating expenses are budgeted accurately and consistently across the company
Extract data from multiple data sources and consolidate into weekly and monthly reporting dashboards for distribution to Executive leadership
Drive development and maintenance of methodologies used for organizational reporting, ensuring overall consistency, and reporting integrity and accuracy
Identify opportunities to streamline and improve reporting processes by utilizing advanced financial modeling skills and best practices
Projects
Support the Strategic FP&A team with company-wide initiatives by identifying cost savings opportunities within the corporate functions and tracking the initiatives’ overall progress
Develop and continuously enhance the detailed monthly reporting to the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, comparing actual financial performance vs. plan and outlook, with monthly variance analysis and insightful commentary
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
Bachelor of Science degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA, CMA, and/or MBA preferred
8 years of experience working in financial planning & analysis
Advanced proficiency in Excel modeling required, experience with Power Query, PowerPivot, DAX or equivalents strongly desired
Proficiency with other Microsoft Office products (i.e. PowerPoint, Word) is required
Strong executive presence and the ability to be an effective communicator at all levels of the organization is required
Demonstrated success working in a demanding, high-performance environment with a team-oriented culture
Ability to be a collaborative business partner and cultivate strong cross-functional relationships
Strong critical thinking skills with experience in anticipating management’s potential questions and next steps
Demonstrate a high-level of attention to detail
Proactive self-starter and independent worker
Ability to analyze large volumes of data, summarize in a clear & concise manner, and provide insightful analysis and commentary for senior management
Experience with or the ability to quickly learn systems and applications, including Prophix, Cognos, Tableau, and Mincron
Ability to identify potential issues and implement process improvement solutions to mitigate the company’s risks
