What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pastry Chef position at Beacon Hill at Eastgate?
Beacon Hill at Eastgate is looking for motivated individuals that are looking to help us carry out our vision in “Daily discovering the fresh potential of each life in our residential senior community and sharing these discoveries to enrich our neighborhood…” We are a beautiful Continuum of Care Retirement Community (CCRC) which includes Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing.

The Pastry Chef, you will prepare visually pleasing and delicious tasting bakery concoctions that will delight our residents and their guests. Through out the Independent Living portions of Beacon Hill at Eastgate.

Job Functions:
- Prepare food items according to established recipes and menus in a way that preserves food freshness, quality, and appeal
- Prepare and bake a variety of breads for daily use by our restaurants and guests.
- Prepare pastries and confections for our restaurants and bistro display cases.
- Create daily par levels of all desserts for weekly uses by all dining facilities.
- Maintains equipment and work area by cleaning, organizing, and sanitizing throughout the shift using proper cleaning and sanitizing methods
- Check the quality of ingredients.
- Ensure variety and creativity of offerings for residents.
- Keep accurate recipes and prep logs for consistency.
- Working knowledge of equipment such as mixers, proof boxes, ovens, and stoves.
- Observe color and state of products being baked to maintain quality.
- Prepare arrangement or placement of items for display case.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Executive Chef.
- Working knowledge for creation of: Yeast Breads, Quick Breads, Pastries/ Desserts, Confections, and Dessert Sauces.
Qualifications:
- 2 years professional scratch baking experience required
- Ability to follow recipes, a pay attention to details
- Ability to determine quantity/portions needed
