Level One: System Administrator

The Level One System Administrator will conduct remote and field service calls for Beacon and Beacon customers. The ideal candidate will have the right mix of hands-on-experience with monitoring tools, recommend and implement changes to the production environments that improve the stability, performance, and security of a large scale multi-tenant Windows computing environment. Candidates must have excellent customer service skills, multitasking ability, be a self-starter, and collaborate effectively with a team (This is NOT a remote position).
Required Skills:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required

Required Skills:
- Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network, servers, and virtualization.
- Strong knowledge of core networking concepts, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, NATs, etc.
- Windows Server and RHEL experience – Installation, configuration, and management.
- Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.
- Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure.
- BDR implementation and management: Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
- Technical services and support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, firewalls, and security.
- Knowledge of Office365 management and migration.
- Offer initial escalation support for tier 2 helpdesk support technicians.
- Strong customer service skills
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
Additional Qualifications :
- 5 years of network administration or system administration experience.
- System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus.
- Knowledge of virtualization, VMWare or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.
- Experience with scripting and automation tools. PowerShell scripting experience is a plus.
- Web hosting/Webmaster experience is a plus.
- Microsoft Azure experience is a plus.
- A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans.
- Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols.
- Knowledge of Managed Service Provider (MSP) business (hands-on experience) is a plus.
