Staff Development Coordinator (SDC)
Qualifications: Registered Nurse
- Minimum of one year experience with geriatrics
- Previous teaching experience/staff development experience strongly preferred.
Schedule: Full time - various hours depending on the needs of facility and ability to educate staff on all 3 shifts.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all educational programs for facility staff
- Provide and follow annual education calendar
- Track and maintain compliance records of educated personnel
- Identifies essential competencies for licensed and non licensed staff and assures appropriate educational opportunties exist to promote growth and development of staff.
- Plans, delivers, and evaulates educational programs
- Coordinates and actively particpates in unit based and classroom based orientation of newly hired staff. Solicits involvement of long standing unit staff as mentors to those newly hired.
- Provides structure and support to the Precepter/Mentor program within facility
- Coordinates CNA career ladder training
- Assures all mandatory education (fire safety, infection control, resident rights, hazard communication, safety, sexual harassment, dementia, HIPPA, workplace violence, etc) are completed at least annually and is tracked.
- Provide in-servicing completed on a rotating basis
- Maintains program attendance in accordance with the Dept of Public Health and other regulatory bodies.
- Provides or arranges/verifies BLS, CPR and First Aide education for direct care staff as required, optional for those who are not required.
- Participates in appropriate meetings and committees within the facility
- Assist in developing, implementing and conducting relevant in-service training programs as requested.
- Maintain employee health files on all staff members to assure compliance
- Assure employees have a physical and drug testing in their new hire files.
- Assist with Fit Testing applicable staff
- Manage the TB screening program, assuring documentation of testing exists in employee files.
- Act as a role model for staff
- Assume leadership role in helping to identify opportunties for improvement, defining goals and developing solutions.
