Type of Position
Technical / Para-Professional Minimum Qualifications Currently hold an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
Work experience in an educational institution in a student services related area or work experience related to customer service within an office environment.
Excellent verbal and written skills including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse groups of people.
Excellent customer service skills. Must be detail oriented, ability to manage multiple activities at once and prioritize effectively.
Demonstrated organizational skills. Ability to thoroughly assess the needs of individuals and exercise good judgment in decision making.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as an effective team member.
Ability to perform general office duties and to work in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with Federal and State student financial aid programs.
Experience with Ellucian Colleague, NSLDS, COD and relational databases. Current experience and understanding of federal, state, and VA educational regulations.
Essential Duties Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following :
1. Counsels students requiring assistance with completing financial aid and Veteran Affairs education benefits applications.
3. Recalculating federal / state aid resulting from non-attendance and performing Federal Return to Title IV Funds calculations for students who have officially / unofficially withdrawn to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
4. Assist with counseling and awarding students’ financial aid, processes and advising students on all aspects of financial aid with all applicable institutional, state, federal regulations.
5. Award and monitor institutional, state, and local scholarship recipients.
6. Process student aid applications, perform need analysis when required, electronically submit corrections and package financial aid awards.
7. Establishes and maintains student financial aid files, including document tracking.
8. Prepares summary reports as requested to accurately reflect committed and expended award amounts.
9. Responsible for ensuring the security and confidentiality of student information and records. Ability to understand, articulate, and abide by laws that protect the confidentiality of student information and records.
Adheres to and maintains a thorough knowledge of all federal, state, and institutional regulations to include, but not limited to, FERPA and Higher Education Act privacy laws and guidelines.
10. Serve on institutional committees and participate in staff development activities.
11. Maintain flexibility and willingness to change; open-mindedness, fairness and the ability to see multiple perspectives;
willingness to take risks; and willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.
12. Attend webinars, conferences, and trainings.
