What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey Technician position at Beaver Companies?
This position provides the needed layout for a project’s daily work.
Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities
- Maintains proper care of all instruments and site vehicle
- Attends pre-job meeting when applicable
- Performs all layout for field supervision, topo’s and as-builts
- Ensures all GPS, total Stations, and GPS machines are checked in on a regular basis (control points and calibration)
- Performs basic troubleshooting of GPS machinery
- Communicates with GPS Coordinator on any issues, problems, or scheduling needs
- Conveys GPS capabilities and limitations to project Superintendent or Foreman for layout expectations
- Reads and comprehends plans
- Other tasks as assigned
Skills & Requirements
- Proficient in the use of Trimble survey controller software
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong attention to detail (plans, layout)
- Proficient in the use of computer and mathematics
Education & Experience
- High School diploma
- Associates degree in surveying or construction management preferred
- Past field experience with a construction surveyor, specifically with grade checking
