Position Summary
Assigned to the project team as a representative of the Construction functional group. Ensures that construction requirements are made known to the project team in a timely manner and obtains construction responses to the needs of other members of the project team. Performs duties under minimal direction by management.
Develops and applies construction procedures which may be unique and innovative in nature to resolve complex and difficult problems which may arise. Individual will be responsible for planning the module related activities during all phases of the Project focusing on module fabrication and setting sequence and their boundary definition. Responsibilities will include planning and oversight of the procurement, establishment and operations of the module yard systems and services needed for quantity and quality tracking, mobilization planning and execution, input to and support of the project cost estimate and schedule development, and input and development of subcontract work scopes and their evaluations. Coordination between Engineering, Procurement, Subcontracts, and Construction for material delivery to Subcontractor for module buildout, as well as module delivery to site for final installation.
Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility is to play a role in defining the module requirements, develop scope of work and review proposal packages
- Participate in model reviews to insure that during module design development the fabrication erection and installation sequence is preserved
- Assist in building work packages and defining module boundaries
- Module scope includes pipe racks and process modules of varying sizes and complexities; all modules will require some form of transport, and various erecting / setting techniques
- Participates in constructability review on the project on an ongoing basis during the design process
- Interfaces with Coordinators on other projects to share ideas and techniques
- Supports development of the overall construction execution plan and ITP’s (inspection and test procedures)
- Assists in subcontract formation and evaluations
- Coordinates development of rigging and equipment plans with BEO Representative
- Participates in project meetings (Home Office and field)
- Identifies potential problem areas or trends
- Maintains communications with field and Home Office project team members regarding problem resolutions
- Monitors Procurement expediting reports and coordinates to expedite potential late deliveries
- Participates in preparation and review of construction cost estimates, budgets, forecasts, and schedules
- Reviews project cost trends and forecasts at project team review meetings for accuracy
- Identifies and submits "lessons learned"
- Coordinates construction review of vendor drawings, shop fabrication details, erection and testing procedures
- Attends progress review meetings with major vendors/suppliers
- Participates on Six Sigma PIP teams relevant to project and assignment
Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications
- 10 years of construction/engineering experience
- 5 years experience in module projects / construction execution
- 2 years experience in field engineering
Associated Duties/Responsibilities
- Development of module execution plan
- Support the setup and deployment of the standard progress and measuring tools
- Good computer skills are required.
- Ability to formulate a working relationship with other departments and contractors
- Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills required
- Capable to review subcontract proposals and documention to evaluate subcontractor abilities
- An Engineering degree is preferred but may be waived if the candidate has suitable technical working experience
- Knowledge of Teamworks database, BPS and Bechtel construction procedures is a plus
