Purpose of role

• 
  To work closely with the USA Engineering Operations team to produce monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts to support the running of the US business.

• 
  To provide all the necessary financial information and reporting to the Group Finance function for Group results consolidation.

• 
  To provide leadership and develop the USA Finance team including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll.

• 
  To ensure continuous development and effectiveness of the finance and operations systems and processes, a key driver for the implementation of new group wide ERP systems.

• 
  Responsible for the USA finance shared service team; manage the performance of the team, ensuring timely and relevant training and development of the staff and regular on-the-job coaching and skills development
• Implement a range of solutions and team communication tools to ensure goals and targets are met
• Deliver exceptional internal customer service through the UK finance shared service team to ensure customer satisfaction and deal with enquiries in a timely manner
• Plan and conduct team meetings and 1:1’s that inform and motivate the team through cascading information from senior management meetings, sharing best practice, problem solving and confronting any underperformance head on
• Undertake staff appraisals and develop the Finance team to support the achievement of business goals and objectives

  Undertake all monthly and year end processes for the US business in accordance with group timetable, policies and guidelines in cooperation with the GM and the Operations team
• Prepare and distribute accurate and timely monthly set of management accounts; upload in the consolidation system
• Appraise the US financial position and work with the Group CFO, Head of Finance, General Manager and the USA management team to establish performance objectives to meet or exceed the annual budget
• Establish and maintain a USA wide accounting system which guarantees the accurate presentation of financial results
• Provide ad-hoc financial information to support business decision making
• Be a key driver in the implementation of a new group ERP system
• Periodic reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts
• Review ongoing financial performance of all active projects against budget and assist Project Managers to correctly account for their costs.
• Provide bi-weekly cash forecasts to the group finance team and oversee cash flow management
• Preparation of the USA annual budget and forecasts and for each of the profit centres in conjunction with the General Manager and profit centre management and reporting on variances to budget and forecasts
• Developing relationships with external contacts such as auditors, solicitors and the IRS.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors and act as the key contact for the audit of the US companies and ensure the business meets all its statutory and compliance obligations, including statutory accounting and tax reporting and filing obligations by state
• Maintain the fixed asset register for the USA business
• Understand regulation, legislation and industry developments and how they will impact the business

Experience & Qualifications Required

• CPA qualified
• Proven experience in either a Senior Management Accountant or Finance Manager role
• Extensive experience of producing monthly management accounts to an agreed deadline and leading a Finance team
• Solid experience of undertaking projects/contract accounting
• Advanced Excel user
• Working knowledge of US GAAP principles and payroll

• Graduate calibre
• Experience using SAGE
• Experience working in an engineering, construction or other similar service industry
• Experience of working as a Finance Business Partner
