Your role at BHSN: 


The PROS intake specialist is on the front lines of delivering an exceptional customer experience for those that we serve in the organization and the community. The intake specialist will be expected to provide an exceptional patient experience in every counter; aligned with the organization’s core values. As an intake specialist, you will need to possess skills in computer software, including EMR scheduling, as well as the ability to provide active listening, triaging, problem-solving, and multitasking.  This role plays a crucial part of the organization's encounters with all those that we serve.

What your day might look like: 


  • Helps participants sign-in and sign-out of the program; 
  • Collects and Reviews ‘Program Participation’ reports to ensure compliance; 
  • Helps participants understand and access BHSN services better;  
  • Utilizes the knowledge gained from training, problem-solving skills and support from the team to answer and address participant’s calls effectively;  
  • Helps us keep track of patient interactions; 
  • On calls, utilizes expert listening skills to get to the heart of and address participant questions quickly, and documents all those interactions in real-time;  
  • Obtains necessary demographic and insurance information, and enters that data into the EMR;  
  • Assists individuals in making appointments for various clinical services throughout the BHSN System;  
  • Communicates clear instructions and education related to scheduled services;  
  • Ensures patients are equipped with the best advice to address their needs;  
  • Identifies and empathetically addresses patient concerns and, if necessary, escalates appropriately to practitioners; 
  • Facilitates appointment requests received through internal and external systems;  
  • Triages specific and complex inquiries to appropriate resource (management, clinical call center, billing call center, etc.);  
  • Documents all services in accordance with Federal/State regulations and BHSN policies and procedures;  
  • Supports collaboration and teamwork by sharing information and responding to questions/requests from rehabilitation team and other support providers; 

 

Your skills and qualifications: 


  • 2 years of direct customer experience   
  • AA/AS Degree (preferred)   
  • Significant knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and Teams   
  • Significant experience using Excel (ability to create sheets and formulas)  
  • Knowledge of EMRs (preferred) 
  • Knowledge of BHSN’s services (preferred) 
  • Valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation required for local and regional travel.
