About the role
➢ Implement the sustainability transformation in the plant by supporting the transformation wave and by implementing global technical solutions as well as the self-starter kit.
➢ Implement shopfloor basic procedures related to energy, CO2 emissions, water & waste.
➢ Implement processes to achieve the company's overall goals by continuously improving and reducing energy intensity, CO2 emissions, water consumption & waste generation.
➢ Cooperate with and support the Regional Change Agent (RCA) to identify, evaluate & promote relevant energy, emissions, water & waste reduction technologies within the company.
Your Impact as Sustainability Engineer:
- Embed sustainability into daily way of working tools (Gemba walks, layered process audits
(LPAs), performance dialogues)
- Organize, monitor, and analyze, energy, water & waste data
- Reduce idle energy consumption and eliminate compressed air, water, steam & gas leakages
- Organize and carry out energy, water & waste assessments
- Define, evaluate, and prioritize energy, water & waste improvement projects
- Improve the awareness of sustainability related considerations the entire organization
- Provide energy, water & waste visualization on the shopfloor
- Assist production management enhance energy, water & waste awareness during shopfloor meetings
- Organize & implement cross functional sustainability Gemba walks and LPAs with feedback loops on the observations
- Organize sustainability awareness training and related activities
- Systematically organize " Sustainability topic of the month" events on the shopfloor and follow-up results
- Identify and appoint " Sustainability Champions" in relevant departments and train them specifically.
- Serve as local first point of contact for sustainability-related questions, ideas & proposals
- Support local industrial project leaders in carrying out sustainability impact assessments for new project proposals and support project impact tracking for planned & ongoing projects.
About You
Essential skills & competences:
- Bachelor's degree in related Engineering field or Environmental Sciences.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Manufacturing setting; preferably with experience both in sustainability and steel.
- Must have strong technological experience with demonstrated ability to learn multiple systems.
- Planning and organizing for project delivery – champions change and development plans, steers project delivery.
- Must have strong analytical skills with the ability to determine actionable projects that achieve results.
- Must have demonstrated experience in solving complex technical problems
- Must have strong teamwork and interpersonal communication skills

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
