Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
Summary of Duties
The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)/Behavior technician (BT) is primarily responsible for providing direct care to the individuals that BBH serves. The RBT/BT is directly accountable for the consistent implementation of the interventions laid out in classroom/individual behavior support plans (BSP). The RBT/BT will work closely with supervisory and other staff to ensure that the client/student is able to achieve the behavior goals set forth in the BSP. The RBT/BT will work to provide the highest quality client/student services possible by the organization using any obtainable resources.
Fundamental Responsibilities
- Directly implement skill acquisition and behavior reduction plans consistently.
- Collect accurate data for all behavior programs.
- Serve in a direct support role, behaviorally and educationally, and consult the supervising behaviorist regularly for additional support.
- Meet regularly with the supervisory staff to address any program changes, further training, and/or for in-situ supervision.
- Adjust interventions or methods as instructed by one’s supervisor.
- Be responsible for maintaining thorough knowledge and understanding of each intervention in place for every individual on his/her caseload at all times.
- Regularly review treatment plans for all individuals to ensure treatment integrity.
- Maintain all forms of documentation as directed by supervisory staff
- Maintain RBT credentialing. If not certified upon hire, by signing your employment contract you are agreeing to complete the certification within the first 6 months of employment.
- Arrive on time to work, prepared to do all aspects of your job for the duration of the shift.
- Ensuring there will be no personal contact with client families that is not first approved by one’s supervisor (separate from parent training as part of one’s session work for in-home work).
Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or national equivalent.
- Completion of 40 hour training, based on the RBT Task List.
- Ability to pass the RBT Competency Assessment within 6 months of hire, if necessary.
- Successfully complete criminal background check and sexual registry check.
- Exhibit excellent public, employee, client and agency relation skills.
- Demonstrates excellent client service under challenging conditions.
- Ability to take constructive criticism on performance as given by supervisors.
- History of making reliable decisions and effectively communicating with others.'
