What are the responsibilities and job description for the CPR EDUCATOR position at Bennington Rescue Squad?
The Community Educator works with clients throughout our regional community to provide education and other related services. Essential functions of the position include:
PROGRAM DELIVERY:
- Provide community education programs including CPR & AED, first aid, bloodborne pathogens, babysitting, and other general healthcare or safety related programs.
- Provide N-95 respirator fit testing.
- Provide testing services as trained by Bennington Rescue or other public health partners.
- Provide other duties as assigned.
COMPLIANCE & SAFETY:
- Oversee or perform the cleaning and maintenance of all equipment, facilities, audiovisual equipment, etc. necessary used in activities.
- Maintain and submit appropriate records that include all required information to meet or exceed applicable state or regional policies, protocols, regulation, or laws.
PREREQUISITES
Certification/Licensure:
- CPR Instructor (maybe obtained within 3 months of hire) - Course is February 22, 2023 09:00-15:00
- Driver’s license with a minimum of 2-years driving experience and driving record acceptable by the Bennington Rescue motor vehicle insurer. The educator must have access to a vehicle to travel to off site locations.
- Preferred criteria include: AHA ACLS / PALS Instructor
Education:
- Possession of a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Preferred criteria include: associate, bachelor, or graduate level degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary educational institution
Experience:
- 1 year or more of experience working in a healthcare environment and/or in the education of students.
- Preferred criteria include: healthcare education experience or adult education experience
Skills: Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Specifically:
- Ability to utilize word processing and spreadsheet software to prepare letters, memo, and reports. Preferred criteria include the ability to use the Microsoft Office or similar software including but not limited to: Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, etc.
- Ability to prepare and provide educational presentations in lecture or group formats.
- Ability to navigate and use internet-based programs to coordinate education activities.

Ability to perform physical activities related with job activities including:
- Walking, standing, kneeling, stooping, squatting, etc.
- Carrying equipment up to 40 pounds in weight alone and 80 pounds in weight with the assistance of another person.
- Performance of physically demanding tasks in demonstration for students. For example, performing chest compressions for CPR.
This position is per diem/part time with work primarily weekdays with occasional evening and weekend assignments. There is future potential for this position to be full time depending on demand for services.
