Job Summary:
The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for providing detailed cost analysis and financial insights to support decision-making in a discrete manufacturing environment. This role involves analyzing production costs, monitoring financial performance, and working closely with cross-functional teams to enhance cost efficiency and profitability. In addition to job responsibilities, other duties may be required to maintain departmental goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Analysis and Reporting:
- Conduct detailed cost analysis for production processes, materials, labor, and overhead.
- Develop, maintain, and improve cost accounting systems and procedures.
- Prepare and present cost reports, variance analyses, and financial forecasts to management.
- Monitor and report on cost trends and identify areas for cost reduction and process improvements.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Work with department heads to develop and manage cost budgets.
- Analyze budget variances and provide actionable recommendations to management.
Inventory Management:
- Oversee inventory valuation and ensure accuracy in inventory reporting.
- Perform regular inventory reconciliations and cycle counts.
- Identify and analyze inventory discrepancies and propose corrective actions.
Planning and Analysis:
- Collaborate with FP&A team to support long-term financial planning.
- Provide financial analysis for capital expenditure projects and new product development.
- Evaluate the financial impact of changes in production processes and product designs.
- Collaborate with Product Design team in Pricing development, BOM and BOO reviews.
Cost Control and Efficiency:
- Identify and implement cost control measures and process improvements.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses for process changes and improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and productivity.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to optimize cost efficiency.
Compliance and Internal Controls:
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards – IFRS familiarity preferred.
- Develop and maintain internal controls related to cost accounting.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and analysis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in cost analysis or cost accounting, preferably in a discrete manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and integrity.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours.
This position reports to the Plant Controller and Finance/Accounting department for Bentley Mills, Inc.
The successful candidate will be responsible for complying with safety rules, environmental regulations and all other Company Policies and Procedures.
Starting pay range: $80,000.00 - 110,000.00
