Responsibilities
The Data Analyst will be responsible for building and maintaining our data warehouse, in addition to creating and managing business intelligence (BI) and analytics solutions that turn data into knowledge, ultimately helping an organization make better decisions. This is done by leveraging software tools to transform data into useful insights via reports, summaries, dashboards, graphs, charts, or maps. You must be able to understand and work across different types of data including databases, spreadsheets, CSV files, and text files. W.R. Berkley is a great company with great people - Come Join Us!
This role will be based in our Hamilton Square, NJ office. We offer a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in the office; and 2 days remote.
Key functions include but are not limited to:
- Assemble large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements
- Build and manage database tables and relationships, foreign/primary keys, and normalizing table structures
- Build and manage the Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes
- Implement processes and systems to monitor data quality, ensuring production data is accurate and available
- Translate business requirements into sustainable and efficient visualizations and reporting
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes
- Perform quality assurance checks on new or enhanced reports
- Perform data analysis required to troubleshoot data related issues and assist in the resolution of data issues
- Document work and updating technical documentation and end-user job aids
- Work with stakeholders and assisting them with data-related technical issues
- Perform root-cause analysis, identifying, and resolving data reporting issues in a timely fashion
- Perform end-user deskside services upon request by Level 1 Helpdesk team
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in IT or equivalent experience
- 5-7 years of Data Engineering/IT/Data Analytic experience
- Strong experience working with MS SQL Server including Integration Services (SSIS) and Reporting Services (SSRS)
- Strong experience working with Structured Query Language (SQL), MS Excel, and .CSV and character-delimited datasets
- Strong experience troubleshooting issues by formulating a structured methodology to achieve root-cause analysis
- Organization, communication/interpersonal, patience, and self-motivation skills
- Independent judgement and decision making
- Strong comfort with ambiguity, frequent change, or unpredictability
