Responsibilities
The Junior Accountant is responsible for specific accounting functions related to premium receivables. The Jr Accountant will process & analyze premium related cash transactions, assist customers & external vendors, Brokers, and other internal departments in premium related inquiries. This role will also be responsible for maintaining the accounts that are on our external pay as you go program and other accounting duties as assigned and deemed necessary.
Key functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Assists PEI’s insureds, external vendors, Brokers, & other internal PEI department’s inquiries regarding a variety of premium and policy related inquires through phone calls, emails & chat programs
- Performs daily premium receivable functions
- Performs policy reinstatement analysis, refund analysis, insufficient funds analysis & unmatched cash reports analysis
- Maintains accounts on our external pay as you go program which includes billing premium and reconciling variances between internal and external system
- Assist in new system implementation and testing as needed
- Creates Return Premium & overpayment refund payments as requested
- Assists in quarterly SOX Testing
Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle phone, email and live chat requests in a professional and courteous manner
- Proficient in MS Word & Excel
- Ability to work in a fast-paced decision-oriented environment
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to meet all established deadlines
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
- Customer service orientated
- General accounting, audit, payroll and premium processing experience a plus
