Responsibilities
As a Business Development Rep, you will work closely with our Business Development, Marketing and Underwriting teams to drive new and renewal business, streamline complex service requests, and assist with distribution relationship management.
As a go-to resource for agents and our field business development team, you will be a go-to team member to solve challenges as they arise and deliver on our Ridiculously Fast.
Amazingly Easy. brand promise. Your expertise and delivery will be key to building goodwill as you develop a thorough understanding of each agency gaining insight into the team members and the value BerkleyNet brings within their organizations.
This knowledge will allow you to streamline interactions, resolve or prevent customer pain points, and write profitable business using your UW authority.
You will spend time in the data to identify agency, state, and other trends to uncover opportunities.
- Cultivate a deep understanding of what drives insurance (especially workers comp) profitability, as well as how our business operates
- Support the needs of our business development, marketing and underwriting teams, consistently delivering our Ridiculously Fast.

- Develop strong relationships within our distribution network, delivering solutions that are mutually beneficial
- Actively and strategically pursue & retain profitable business opportunities
- Quickly assess problems or issues, then identify, execute and communicate solutions
- Work across all functional areas of the company to drive profitable results and demonstrate a balanced view when evaluating production and profit opportunities
- Communicate clearly, proactively, and professionally with all stakeholders, both external and internal
- Assist with agency planning, budgeting, and goal setting
- Take an active and participative role in the planning and handling of agency visits
- Learn our online tools / applications and be able to effectively train users and educate on the value of these tools, as well as assist with ongoing development of training tools and use cases based on internal / external feedback
- Consistently identify opportunities to improve our customer experience and operations
- Develop a deep technical knowledge of WC and effectively communicate that to our agents as well as internally. We are experts in our field.
- Develop effective communication & relationship-building skills to deliver clear, actionable messaging externally and internally
- Deepen your sales strategy knowledge and skills through internal and external resources
- Work with an innovative mindset to foster needed change or enhancement of our approach

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a business, insurance, or sales related field
- CPCU or other insurance designation preferred but not required
Skills / Experience
- 1 - 3 years of insurance experience or a related field
- Proven relationship management and communication skills
- High degree of self-motivation, discipline, productivity, and professionalism
- Sound analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and critical-thinking skills with an outcome-based focus
- Ability to work effectively across an organization, understanding customer needs and finding mutually-beneficial solutions
