Responsibilities
We have an opportunity for an Underwriting Assistant to join our team! You will provide policy administration support to our Jewelry Block and Fine Arts underwriting businesses. We are open to train a motivated individual wanting to start a career in the insurance industry.
This position will be based in our West Hartford, CT office. We are in the office 4 days a week, and 1 day remote.

Key functions include but are not limited to:
- Pre-underwriting/pre-qualification of New Business and Renewal risks
- Solicitation of additional information relative to submission from brokers
- Preparing Declination correspondence to broker when required
- Completion/updating data entry fields in our Workflow Management System
- Aid in the completion of Rating/Review Documents
- Completion of necessary fields in Underwriting System
- Limited Underwriting Authority for renewal business (within established guidelines)
- Tracking and follow-up of outstanding subjectivity items
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- 1-2 years of general insurance industry experience or a motivated individual seeking to start a career in the insurance industry
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and other related programs
- Professional and effective communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Willingness to learn, ability to multi-task, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly when necessary
- Excellent time management skills
