Job Description:
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs/Director of SUCCESS, the Academic Success Coach will work with BCC departments, faculty and staff, to provide academic and non-academic related supports to students and the overall educational experience. The Academic Success Coach will work with students from diverse backgrounds and identities to create individual plans for student success as well as plan and implement relevant workshops and trainings that support student learning. This person will also collect, examine and evaluate data to provide reports and strategies for increased supportive measures to positively impact student persistence as related to diversity initiatives regarding SUCCESS Cohort students.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as an Academic Success Coach to a manageable caseload of SUCCESS cohort students
  • Assist in the continued development of Academic Success coaching and in planning and implementing the delivery of related services as part of the wrap-around student support experience
  • Monitor progress of Academic SUCCESS Coaching students
  • Maintain records of individual coaching sessions while utilizing EAB Navigate to monitor academic performance, provide outreach, and respond to alerts
  • Work in close collaboration with faculty, academic departments and staff college-wide to deliver individualized Academic Success Coaching support for students
  • Plan, develop, and deliver relevant workshops in appropriate modality either online and in-person according to students' needs and faculty preference
  • Communicate with SUCCESS students, manage student access, and provide reports when requested
  • Assist in the collection of data and reporting with other office-related duties.
  • Collaborate college-wide to promote student success
  • Participate in orientation or registration activities as appropriate
  • Support and assist in meeting various grant objectives
  • Facilitate student access to college services
  • Anticipate and meet all program participant needs accurately, professionally, and with a commitment to customer satisfaction
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Assist students in interpreting LASSI (Learning and Study Strategies Inventory) assessment
  • Assist in content creation in monthly SUCCESS related newsletters
  • Assist in providing content for SUCCESS Coaching website
  • Provide preliminary Career related support to SUCCESS Cohort students in Coaching sessions
  • Create and/or deliver career readiness events such as resume writing, networking, and interview preparation to the SUCCESS cohorts and BCC students.
  • Develop BIPOC career sessions to engage students in intentional learning and engage in equitable practices.
  • Support career programming with additional promotion to cohorts designated by SUCCESS.
  • Support student employees when applicable
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess the following:
Bachelor's degree in appropriate field

2 - 3 years of relevant experience and/or training involving area of assignment, which may include academic coaching, college registration, academic advisement, career development, career experience, training, program/project management, case management, or administrative work in academic environment and/or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience

Experience developing and delivering workshops

Experience in working with diverse student populations specifically students from historically underrepresented racial/ethnic groups, women, individuals with disabilities, veterans, LGTQI community members, traditional and adult learners and students utilizing support services.

Demonstrated ability to help us achieve our vision of a diverse and inclusive community.

Familiarity of using online learning platforms and case management software.

Ability to navigate through digital inventory models to support student learning.

Experience in teaching and learning strategies.

Demonstrated ability to create and present on a variety of topics relating to this work.

Knowledge of strategies or methods for students with disabilities.

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to proactively connect with students, faculty, and staff.

Demonstrated understanding of the roles played by community colleges in strengthening educational endeavors.

Ability to manage a high volume of student appointments and a manageable caseload of SUCCESS students within a flexible work schedule.

Additional Information:
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in appropriate academic field

Experience working in community college

Experience with skills inventory diagnostics such as LASSI

Knowledge of study strategies

Bilingual or Bicultural (Spanish and English)

Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population

Salary: $52,754.00 - $56,577.00
