Purpose and Essential Duties
The Fire Protection Designer I will design structures, products, components, or assemblies using engineering and architectural
principles. Performs technical activities on assigned projects under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
Specific responsibilities include:
- Works closely with project managers to create unique high-level concepts and designs for all assigned projects.
- Works closely with the creative team to ensure the successful execution of goals of all assigned projects.
- Influences stylistic direction for projects.
- Delivers concepts and designs according to strict project deadlines.
- Contributes to all areas of the creative process and department.
- Participates in job site surveys.
- Performs work under direct supervision.
- Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
This position is Full-Time, Non-Exempt, and reports to the Engineering Director.
Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

- Possess beginning knowledge of the subject matter
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), REVIT, and pdf files.
- Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree, Bachelor's degree, or relevant industry experience.
- AutoCAD
Travel Requirements
- On occasion depending on project need and location. Estimated to be around 5% - 10% of regular work schedule per
month, sometimes including overnight out of state. Must be able to travel by plane and/ or automobile. A valid driver’s license is required.
Physical/Work Environment Requirements
- Long periods of sitting or standing at a desk in front of a computer in the office environment.
- Ability to walk, climb, crawl, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and squat, as conditions require on a project site.
- May be exposed to inclement weather.
- Capable of field surveying, measuring and accurately documenting job site conditions, and recording site observation photos.
- Ability to ascend and descend a ladder on job sites.
