Renewable Energy Intern

Purpose and Essential Duties

The Renewable Energy Intern will be a student with an interest in key renewable energy technologies such as solar power generation and renewable natural gas, who works during the internship to further education and experience. Specific responsibilities include:

• Assist the team with investigating and potentially developing a low cost RNG/Natural gas blend to offset Scope 1 emissions for Bernhard’s clients. Tasks will include:
• Researching low carbon natural gas sources & costs
• Researching RNG sources
• Gaining and understanding of different carbon accounting methodologies and pledges to understand how RNG can be utilized as a scope 1 emissions reduction strategy
• Developing a pricing strategy/economic model for the RNG/NG blend
• Participate in special tasks / projects and work with team and various resources to complete.
• Perform independent research and prepare reports and presentations as needed.
• Participate in any learning experiences offered such as orientations, lunch & learns, outings, jobsite tours, safety inspections, etc.
• Study meeting notes, policies and procedures to learn the company way.
• Attends the exit interview, providing feedback on the experience.

This position is Full Time, Non-Exempt, and reports to the VP of Sustainable Solutions.

 Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

• Currently working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Sustainability, Construction Management, Accounting or Finance.
• Must have reliable transportation to work daily.
• Ability to be punctual.
• Must have a great attitude towards work and others.
• Must be able to take initiative, provide quality work with a sense of urgency and reasonable productivity.
• Must be able to work independently to complete tasks with daily supervision.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast paced environment.
• Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of scope of work when necessary.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements 

• Shall require long periods of sitting or standing at a desk in front of a computer in the office environment.
• The office environment is usually quiet.
