Job Summary:
While performing your duties as Maintenance Manager, you will ensure all work performed complies with the Berry Aviation, Inc. Repair Station & Quality Control Manual (RSQM) and all FAA maintenance regulations and requirements. You will provide leadership and supervise aircraft maintenance staff, which includes reviewing employee performance, addressing personnel issues, generating and follow up on assignments, setting priorities and ensuring the group is working in a productive manner with quality while maintaining a clean, organized and safe work area in the hangar. You are responsible for organization of tools and equipment used to service and repair assigned aircraft.
Duties / Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall management of the aircraft maintenance activities performed by Berry Aviation, Inc. MRO.
- Acts as the Customer’s main point of contact in regards to aircraft maintenance/ technical problems, aircraft status and/or workscope requirement as their aircraft are undergoing maintenance.
- Assist the Customer in planning and scheduling upcoming aircraft maintenance associated with their operational requirements.
- Coordinate Customer requirements with BAI support departments to insure all resources are in place to meet the Customers operational schedule.
- Ensure assigned personnel have the resources and support required to perform their duties so that work is accomplished on schedule and in accordance Berry Aviation, Inc. RSQM and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations.
- Ensure assigned personnel complete maintenance tasks in accordance with manufacturer’s manuals and/or other FAA accepted or approved data.
- Ensure assigned personnel have and use the most current aircraft/component manufactures maintenance manuals, technical data, and required forms when performing aircraft maintenance.
- Ensure assigned personnel complete all work order paperwork related to tasks performed with detailed documentation in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations and company practices in a timely and professional manner.
- Train and assist assigned personnel in proper work procedures and practices.
- Review the day’s schedule, assign work to properly trained and qualified personnel, and set priorities.
- Read and interpret manufacturers’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
- Provide guidance and instruction to team members concerning technical orders, checklists, and hazardous materials.
- Participate in aircraft evaluations / inspections when needed and recommend necessary troubleshooting steps.
- Ensure all assigned personnel and support department are updated daily on project status, task priorities, and parts and service requirements.
- Ensure parts / services requests (including date needed) are submitted on a daily basis to the Supply Chain Department.
- Ensure that supervisory continuity and shift turnover procedures for work in progress is followed and observed by all assigned personnel.
- Ensure assigned personnel have proper training and records for the assigned work.
- Ensure on-the job training (OJT) is conducted and documented by maintenance personnel in accordance with the RSQM and Training Manual.
- Assist Director of Tech Ops with identification of training requirements for assigned personnel.
- Ensure assigned personnel are observing the safety precautions relevant to the functions for which they are utilized.
- Ensure the proper handling of all parts while in the repair process and when work is completed.
- Ensure unserviceable articles are properly identified and segregated from serviceable articles.
- Ensure the maintenance hangar is maintain in a clean and orderly manner.
- Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must have above average leadership skills.
- Must be a motivated self-starter and able to work without close supervision in a high stress maintenance environment under strict timelines.
- Ability to read, interpret and follow repair manuals, basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications and other written instructions or procedures to accurately repair aircraft.
- Ability to communicate with coworkers, vendors, internal and external customers to establish and maintain effective working relationships, and accept information required to perform assigned duties. The form of communication may require multiple styles to include verbal, written, or electronically (email).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent mechanical repair skills.
- Basic computer navigation and utilization skills preferred.
- Ability to follow instructions.
Education and Experience:
- Valid FAA Airframe and Power Plant License.
- 10 years or more experience in an aircraft maintenance environment
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working on Bell-212 or similar helicopters.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to read, write and communicate proficiently in English, be skilled in use of computers and the ability to type / enter data efficiently.
- Knowledge and skill using on-line maintenance manuals and looking up parts and components.
- Skills with Microsoft products.
Special Requirements
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol test and background check
- Valid state driver’s license
- Employee must provide their own hand tools
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing while working on aircraft.
- Must be physically able to access aircraft and equipment by climbing, kneeling or lying on back.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
