Responsibilities
The Warehouse and Transportation Manager has overall shipping and receiving responsibility, is responsible for the supervision of warehouse employees, and has budget and cost control responsibilities for the warehouse operations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ensures the safety of all Warehouse employees by checking the warehouse areas for safety/housekeeping hazards and addressing issues immediately. Encourages employees to participate in safety activities by identifying close calls, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and safety observations; inputs data to company data base for tracking.
- Reports any infractions to Safety Manager or other management as appropriate.Performs duties in a safe manner; acts as a role model for Safety.Completes incident reports thoroughly, timely and accurately. Conducts preliminary investigations on safety incidents.
- Oversees required training on selected safety topics as identified by the Safety Manager.
- Is a member of Senior Safety Council and attends monthly meetings.
- Responsible for the material management function relating to the planning, storage, control and distribution of materials and products.
- Contacts common carriers when needed to route and schedule in/out bound freight. Ensures compliance with Department of Transportation regulations.
- Maintains good communication with customers and customer service relating to releases and deliveries.
- Reviews and resolves work order completion discrepancies.
- Responsible for the maintenance of warehouse equipment, providing both preventive maintenance programs and all necessary repairs. Ensures that the warehouse personnel have safe, efficient equipment in order to perform their duties. Recommends equipment requirements and replacements in order to upgrade and maintain distribution productivity and efficiency.
- Responsible for the daily scheduling of warehouse personnel to ensure proper manning in order to select and receive products at the facility in a productive and cost-efficient manner.Motivates and develops subordinates to optimize their performance and their personal and professional growth. Conducts performance reviews at regular intervals as set by company policy.Generates warehouse productivity reports and accounts for all labor hours. Adheres to budget requirements and works toward obtaining objectives and company Monitors all storage charges to ensure that containers and trailers are scheduled and unloaded in a timely Reviews inventory levels and ensures proper DOH levels onsite and at offsite warehouses by closely working with Scheduler and managing inter-company stock Responsible for the daily inventory cycle
- Participates and leads employee improvement teams, and lean teams to promote positive employee relations and cost reduction.
Qualifications

Education: Knowledge normally acquired through completion of a High School diploma or GED; two year degree in logistics/general business preferred.
Experience: In addition to the educational requirements 4-5 years’ experience in logistics, transportation or warehousing is desired. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory/lead position required.
Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should be an advanced user in Spreadsheet, Word Processing, and database software. Experience with Microsoft Office products
