Overview
BerryDunn is seeking a Tax Assistant to join our Tax Group. You will be responsible for support within the tax group aiding our service teams across a wide range of industries. The ideal candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills both with internal and external customers while maintaining an aptitude for technical growth. The Tax Assistant should also have the ability to prioritize / reprioritize daily work while working independently and in a team environment to meet deadlines. This position is planned to sit in our Manchester office. You will report to the Principal in the Tax Group.
Responsibilities
You Will:
- Prepare tax forms for federal / state taxing authorities such as power of attorney forms
- Draft responses to tax notices
- Prepare depreciation schedules using various software
- Print and assemble tax returns, route and deliver completed returns to proper principals for review and/or signature; this includes various types of tax returns such as corporate, partnership, individual, trusts, estates, and exempt organizations
- Handle delivery of returns to client - assemble tax package to send
- Other miscellaneous tax projects (trial balance input, LIFO input, etc.)
- Engage in special projects as requested by Management
- Communicate directly with existing clients, colleagues, and management regarding various tax matters
- Manage and monitor client deliverables and due dates
- Serve as backup support to processing team
- Demonstrate teamwork by working as a team member; understanding individual and team roles; contributing to a positive working environment by building solid relationships with team members; and proactively seek guidance, clarification and feedback
Qualifications
You Have:
- Associate’s degree preferred and/or accounting experience
- Exposure to the general ledger and bookkeeping skills
- Attention to detail and quality
- Excellent organizational abilities and administrative skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritize work, and multi-task within in fast-paced environment
- Ability to understand and meet deadlines, including following up with stakeholders, as necessary
- Ability to communicate problems to management in objective manner
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite of software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
