BestCo is currently looking for a EH&S Manager, to be located at our Mooresville, NC facility.
Position Summary:
The EH&S Manager, in conjunction with the Sr EH&S Manager is expected to monitor site safety and health programs and implement actions when necessary to correct any deficiencies. Primary responsibilities will include OSHA compliance, incident investigation, and implementation of strategies for company interdependent safety culture. This position will work with management to help drive continuous improvement of EHS performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures compliance of environmental, health, and safety requirements and regulations enforced through OSHA, EPA, DOT, FDA, and other state and federal regulations.
- Act as a key leader for internally motivated safety values, where the team works together to promote organizational pride in safety, care for coworkers’ personal safety, and encourages discussion about safe and unsafe behaviors.
- Oversight of programs for lockout/tagout, emergency preparedness, hazard communication, confined spaces, elevated work, material handling and pedestrian safety, ergonomics, hearing conservation, personal protective equipment, machine guarding, respiratory protection, combustible dusts, industrial hygiene, electrical safety, storage rack safety, radiation safety, contractor safety, and chemical storage.
- Key role in updating EH&S programs, policies, and procedures.
- Survey, compile, analyze, and report data related to occupational risks in the workplace to prioritize activities.
- Recommend and implement control measures for exposure to hazardous materials or conditions.
- Maintain EH&S metrics, recordkeeping, and communications.
- Conduct incident investigations including root cause analysis with corrective actions identified to prevent recurrence.
- Work with cross functional teams to drive completion of action items.
- Brings best in class ideas to foster continuous improvement in environmental, health, and safety areas.
- Key facilitator for EHS training for employees, supervisor competency, and development of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) documentation.
- Comfortable spending significant time in production areas as a site resource for EH&S.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Safety, Engineering, Science, or other technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Environmental, Health and Safety position in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in developing and implementing EH&S systems and processes including audits, programs, and training.
- Prior experience establishing a safety culture in a company.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize risks and recommend controls for workplace hazards.
- Effective public speaker, facilitator, trainer, and problem solver.
- Be comfortable working in a cross-functional matrix organization.
- Must be able to work independently under pressure in a fast-paced, team oriented, ever-changing manufacturing environment.
Preferred Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S and Kaizen events
- Registered professional certification from a nationally recognized board (Certified Safety Professional, Certified Safety Auditor, OSHA 500, or similar certification)
- Working knowledge of MS Office, data entry, SAP system, etc.
- OSHA VPP Star certification experience
- Prior cGMP or pharmaceutical experience
- Prior experience with wastewater and storm water
- Trained radiation safety officer
