BETA is seeking a passionate, creative, and driven individual who will support battery pack assembly operations. Technicians will identify and develop process improvements, assist with defining equipment needs, and participate in the development, design, and purchasing of tools and equipment.

Engineering technicians are critical to the BETA mission. Ensuring battery pack assemblies are manufactured and maintained according to company needs and standards plays a key role in supporting a demanding flight test and delivery schedule. As the battery pack design develops, engineering technicians will be responsible for rapidly understanding and adjusting to new developments while maintaining a quick assembly turnaround. This is a physically demanding role in an extremely fast-paced environment that will require walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and squatting to perform role-related tasks throughout the day.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

  • Build flight conforming and test units to support company needs
  • Maintain equipment through the performance of regular inspection processes, reactive and preventative maintenance
  • Strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures
  • Respect and maintain a culture of safety, including working safely around very high-voltage DC systems
  • Assist in writing and implementing technical documentation and Standard Work Instructions
  • Develop and maintain tooling and rapidly iterate as designs progress
  • Immediately report and respond to incidents and emergencies
  • Become an expert in manufacturing processes in assigned areas to effectively troubleshoot equipment and identify quality issues
  • Communicate and collaborate with team members to identify and support ideas for continuous improvement
  • Learn and utilize our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and maintain accurate component and assembly tracking, inventory, and other required data
  • Operate various equipment in all stages of development
  • Familiar with 5S practices

Minimum Qualifications we are seeking:

  • Experience referencing or developing technical documentation
  • Min 2 years of maintenance or technician experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Passion for sustainability
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to recognize risk and act in the case of an emergency
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, utilize hand tools and power tools
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to pivot and rapidly develop solutions to changing goals
  • Desire to work in a dynamic environment
  • Strong communication skills

Above and Beyond Qualifications that will distinguish you:

  • Technical knowledge of mechanical systems such as Conveyance, Hydraulics, PLCs, Pneumatics, Robotics, Electrical Systems ranging from 24 VDC to 480 VAC 3-phase automation, and multiple other manufacturing systems
  • Min 4 years of maintenance or technician experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Utilization of a Quality Management System
  • Utilization of an ERP system
  • Utilization of a Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
  • Knowledge of material flow needs and storage requirements
  • Experience in equipment implementation and maintenance
  • Experience in production assembly
  • Battery cell or interconnect technology exposure
  • Exposure to rapid manufacturing growth and preferably startup experience
  • Experience with high-voltage systems
  • Experience with in-process/end-of-line testing

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, utilize hand tools, and power tools
  • Able to be on feet for 8 hrs per day as required
