Duties/Responsibilities
Maintenance of the medical records located on the Nursing Unit.
Unit Receptionist responsibilities: telephone, visitor assistance, specimen delivery, phone calls, mail distribution.
Is responsible for the performance of clerical duties on the Nursing Unit.
Is responsible for transcribing physician orders via computer or by hand.
It is understood that this is a summary of key job functions and does not include every detail of the job that may reasonably be required.
Experience/Knowledge/Skills Required
Ability to read, write and comprehend.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Ability to organize.
Demonstrated ability to use computer.
Legible handwriting.
Demonstrated communication skills, verbal and written.
Ability to type at 35 WPM.
Education Required
Ability to read, write and comprehend English at 12th grade level.

Physical/Environmental Requirements
This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.
