The Transitional Assessment Center is committed to providing the highest quality care and supervision to the youth being served. To assure that quality exists, the program only employs personnel with good moral character, emotional stability, and of sufficient health, ability, experience and education to perform the duties assigned.
The Activity Coordinator is primarily responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of the activities for youth in the program. This person will also assess the resident's capabilities, needs, interests and goals in the process of planning, organizing, and implementing activities for individual residents and groups. The Activity Coordinator will facilitate incentive programs, group activities and outings in coordination with designated staff.
This position is expected to function effectively with regular supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state licensing regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure client safety is maintained at all times when planning or coordinating an activity or outing;
- Participate in planning and evaluation of an activity program to address the resident's cultural, emotional, physical and mental development and wellbeing;
- Provide comprehensive needs assessment regarding the recreational needs of each resident;
- Make recommendations and received feedback from the treatment team to coordinate age appropriate activities;
- Maintain familiarity with resident's history, current level, and specific precautions indicated on treatment plan;
- Develop, plan, and implement, on-site and off-site activities;
- Develop, plan, and distribute a monthly schedule of outings and activities;
- Develop, plan, and facilitate incentive programs to initiate participation from residents while promoting and establishing relationships and effectively utilize leadership, teaching techniques to gain cooperation from and motivate residents in created activities;
- Plan, document, organize, and promote group activities, unit outings, educational outings, and other shelter activities while coordinating with relevant shelter staff responsible for attending activities;
- Help facilitate assigned activities on the schedule, when needed;
- Keep abreast of and solicit community resources when appropriate;
- Complete training requirements of 50 hours the first year and 40 hours each year thereafter
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college;
- Prior experience in activity programming;
- Minimum one year experience in child care;
- Must be at least 21 years of age;
- Knowledge of current community events;
- Possess the ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team;
- Possess excellent organizational skills with a high level of detail;
- Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality;
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions.
- Promptly conduct the nonviolent crisis prevention intervention (CPI) procedure, when necessary;
- Computer and typing skills sufficient to perform essential job functions;
- Must be 21 years old with a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years driving experience to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany. Must also pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage;
- Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
- Documentation of immunity to vaccine preventable diseases or the willingness to receive vaccination, or seeking an exemption;
- Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commitment.

Salary : $37,400 - $47,400
