ASSOCIATE NURSE

The Associate Nurse position is a 10 month position that reports directly to the building principal. The main responsibility of the position is to provide support services in the area of student health under the authority of the Certified School Nurse. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Attend to students’ needs – first aid, injury, and illness
· Contact parents/guardians as needed
· Assist the Certified School Nurse with mandatory health screenings for all students
· Assist in maintaining SNAP records for health offices
· Assist in gathering and compiling statistical information for Department of Health reports
· Report suspected child abuse
· Administer medications according to parent and doctor request/orders in compliance with the District’s medication policy
· Must demonstrate professionalism within all interactions with students, parents, and all levels of employees
· Must be punctual and have consistent and reliable attendance
· Collaborate with the Certified School Nurse as needed
· Any additional duties or responsibilities as assigned by the building principal/Supervisor of Health Services
Qualifications:
· Experience in the medical field is preferred
· Some clerical skills necessary
· Computer skills necessary
· CPR certification / Basic First Aid
· Ability to work with school-aged children
· Ability to work with a diverse group of students with special needs
Certification: The Associate Nurse must be a Registered Nurse or a Licensed Practical Nurse and have a current and active license in Pennsylvania.
