What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Aide position at Bexar County?
Under general supervision by Accounting Management, this position assists with related accounting and auditing functions.
Enters and updates data in a personal computer or utilizing spreadsheet or database applications;
Scans documents to file electronically;
Answers telephone, routes calls and takes messages utilizing discretion and tact;
Develops and maintains files;
Audits, processes and verifies payment status of court appointed attorney vouchers;
Copies information and distributes to appropriate location;
Codes Deposit Warrants for various county departments;
Performs related duties as required.
High School graduate or G.E.D.; and six (6) to twelve (12) semester hours of accounting or six (6) months experience in accounting, auditing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Two (2) years of college preferred;
Fifteen (15) to twenty (29) hours a week, flexible schedule;
Must submit a resume of previous working experience;
Proficiency with excel, word documents;
Requires good knowledge of English spelling, grammar and punctuation; and good knowledge of office procedures;
Requires skill in operating a personal computer, typewriter and other office equipment; and skill to type; and skill to use 10-key;
Requires ability to accurately enter data and file information; ability to work independently; ability to organize, compile and record information accurately; ability to operate personal computer and basic office equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, county employees, and the general public.
- Must clear a pre-employment physical and pre-employment drug screen
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
Working conditions are inside an office environment
Physical requirements include lifting/carrying 10-20 lbs. occasionally
Occasionally, visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computer keyboard, 10-key adding machine, and basic office equipment.
Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
Positions self to perform essential functions
Subject to sitting, standing, walking, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending to perform the essential functions
