What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sewing Sample Maker position at Beyond Clothing?

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision by Production Supervisor, the Sample maker operates and trains others on garment construction using industrial sewing machines.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Have knowledge of threading and running the following industrial equipment:
    • Single needle
    • Double Needle
    • Flat Lock
    • Overlock – 3, 4 and 5 thread
    • Buttonhole
    • Button
    • Bar Tack
    • Cover stitch
    • Seam Sealer – willing to get certified if not already
  • Have knowledge of being able to read patterns
    • Drill holes, notches, sizing, style name and garment SKU
  • Have knowledge and ability to perform quality control inspections
  • Have knowledge of measuring garments
  • Ability of producing a garment from start to finish
  • Ability to cut out patterns or re-cuts due to fabric flaws or sewing errors
  • Ability to read English and understanding technical packages and bill of materials
  • Ability of notifying the Production Supervisor and or Design team when something is not going to together correctly.
  • Ability to demonstrate sewing technics to other team members
  • Ability to kit raw material support for garments going to sewing floor
  • Ability to follow a schedule and complete by due dates
  • Performing audits on garments made internally and on occasion from our outside production partners
  • Ability to repair or alter garments as needed by customers such as: patching holes, replacing broken zipper
  • Some basic knowledge of excel, word and outlook would be nice but not necessary.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should have the following credentials:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a sample maker

  • Working knowledge of industrial high-speed sewing machines required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work orders written in English.
